![]() “Ever since I was a kid in California, my dream has been to fish for a living, and to do it with the best of the best on the Bassmaster Tournament Trail. I remember watching “The Bassmasters” on TV when I was seven or eight years old, and I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I grew up fishing, and I was fortunate enough to have parents who loved the outdoors. My mom and dad would take me fishing on weekends as much as they could, and without their support, there’s no way I’d be where I am today. After working my way up through the junior bass tournaments out West, I finally got the chance to prove myself against the sport’s best (and some of my fishing heroes) at the 1999 Bassmaster Classic in New Orleans. Since then, I’ve been able to win a handful of tournaments, with almost 50 top-10 finishes in ten years. I’ve been lucky, but I also know how hard you have to work to compete out here. Today, I make my home in Alabama, which makes traveling easier on my wife and family. Lesley’s a great mom, and she takes good care of Jordan and Spencer while I’m out chasing bass. Fishing is great, and it’s something I love to do, but family and the Lord are more important to me than anything else in my life.” -Aaron Martens www.aaronmartens.com |
